Shell’s Eco-marathon invites students from Europe, Asia and Americas to compete and create a vehicle to go the furthest with the least amount of fuel. They needed a strong and contemporary graphic to be used on posters, T-shirts, passes, banners and a whole hosts of other materials. It also needed to look contemporary so that the students would want to be seen wearing it.
The concept behind the design was to create something like an emblem to show what it’s all about, yet keeping it within the strict corporate brand guidelines. The designed had a great response from both participants as well as other students. The graphic device also translated very well on all other materials that were produced.22
